    Me personally, I use nano and gedit as I find them simple enough to do

    When on my *nix box, Nano. When on my Windows system, Notepad++

    Same. I used to use gedit for Windows and I still do sometimes but GTK
    doesn't play nice on Windows. I just installed Midori and it doesn't
    play nice and I think it is a GTK application (I don't know for sure
    though).

    I do still use Gedit on my GNU/Linux machine though.

    Also what distro of GNU/Linux do you use?

    It sounds like you're using Linux? For Linux, I often use vim or GEdit. For Windows, I like Notepad++ and Notepad2.

    Yes I am using GNU/Linux. Gedit is available for Windows along with nano
    via cygwin (I suppose) and MSYS64.

    On linux, medit. I used gedit but do not like the new version UI at all.

    On windows, notepad++.

    I understand the new UI within GNOME but it doesn't make sense on the
    Windows version of gedit which used to have a nice UI (the old UI I
    suppose). I think I used the old gedit on Windows and it looked like the
    gedit UI before the new white round-edges UI.

    I use Vim for command line in Linux and Geany in XFCE and Windows. Personally, I love Arch Linux because of the fact I am not tied to using an installer script that has software installed that a distro thinks I need. The large amount of documentation and user-supported (AUR) repository is a huge plus as well.

    When I started to use Arch Linux, I practiced it in a VM in VirtualBox and had, like, 5 tabs opened with Arch Linux's Wiki site open. Now, I have an older Intel i3 Lenovo Thinkpad laptop running Arch Linux that out-performs my newer HP laptop with Windows 10.
