• Help with setting up Synchronet

From Omethe@VERT to All on Wed Apr 12 02:20:54 2023
Howdy, I'm setting up synchronet but i'm stuck on the nodelist setup

I've followed the instructions for the nodelist browser, and i've set up the path to the nodelist in echocfg but I can't seem to get the nodelist browser to work? How's the nodelist browser supposed to work?

Also with the nodelist setup in echocfg - what is the format I'm supposed to enter the nodelist file as? do I add the file name wiht no extension or do i add the extension or will sbbs work out which nodelist to import as new nodelists come in from my hub?

    Thank you

You mean FidoNet nodelist? You don't technically need one.

I've followed the instructions for the nodelist browser, and i've set up the path to the nodelist in echocfg but I can't seem to get the nodelist browser to work? How's the nodelist browser supposed to work?

That's a 3rd party add-on, I think it's used for looking up sysop names and FTN addresses (?), but I've never used it myself.

Also with the nodelist setup in echocfg - what is the format I'm supposed to enter the nodelist file as?

There's no nodelist setup in echocfg that I'm aware of.

do I add the file name wiht no extension or do i
add the extension or will sbbs work out which nodelist to import as new nodelists come in from my hub?

This is the wrong message area for Synchronet support questions. See http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:support for details.

There's no nodelist setup in echocfg that I'm aware of.

I'm not sure if this is what he's referring to, but in echocfg, if you go into Domains, for each domain configured there, there's a "NodeList" option where you can specify the path & filename of the nodelist applicable to that FTN domain.

Ah, yes, that's for BinkIt's use. To answer the OP's question: the format of the nodelist for that setting is (uncompressed, unarchived) FidoNet nodelist format.
