Hi,
Don't usually ask for help, but I have run out of ideas on what the issue is.
When running echickens bbs scene door or side bar in ecweb I get the error in the sync console:
best thing to do is contact the author about his script[s].
i'm sure he included his contact info in there.

Echicken's usually hanging around here -- this is a pretty reasonable place to look for help.
i'm sure he'll say it's more appropriate here because he likes to disagree with everything i say. :D

You probably need to update Synchronet - IIRC, js.flatten_string is a recent addition, used by http.js.
I have lost interest in supporting the bbs-scene.org scripts, so if that doesn't help ... sorry. :|
i've never been a fan of posting and waiting. especially when something's being actively developed and the person is contactable via email.
we all generally chip in information if we have it, even if we didnt write it. posting here also provides a searchable reference for other people who may have similar problems.

Will post here what I find out d:)
I've tried updating again with a build from November 23, still same error. http.js is listed there.
Will look through it to see if js.flatten_string is mentioned d:)
Hmm, that's a shame as you mods are really good d:( I've updated SBBS as I have been using the CVS.

I was running the older version which worked fine until I updated SBBS. Might have to downgrade and use your older scripts.
posting in old school method for a change and two the outcome is available to everyone reading this sub.
Which may help other people out there, try googling this stuff and it's a very hard task finding solutions for Synchronet.
js.flatten_string is a built-in method called by exec/load/http.js, and should be available in any current *build* of Synchronet (note: just updating your .js files is not enough, here) unless somebody has removed
Worst case, you could copy exec/load/http.js to your mods directory, and comment out line 135 and see if that helps. That wouldn't be a permanent
Well, thanks - I have plenty of other stuff out there that I still support and may work on in the future. It's just the bbs-scene scripts that I'm stepping away from: I'm no longer running them on my system, and most of the problem reports that I get about them are related to things beyond my control.
about) can just be commented out. The error should indicate what line in the .js file that causes the error (I think it's 134?), what you can try is to just comment out the line (type // at the start of the line). I'm not sure what the js.flatten function does exactly, but I think it's something to do with the html interface.
yeah but if it's something simple and specific about a person's mod, i know i'd like to be contacted by email. certainly the wait would be shorter atleast.
This works and the door loads, but it's using my QWK ID i.e. lurch@appy instead of the BBS name lurch@TAF.

The most annoying thing about them is when bbs scene is down, other than that I like the idea of interacting with other BBS's.
I can see both methods have it's benefits. Will make sure to do both next time round d:)
If you want to change it, just do a search for "system.qwk_id" in onelinerz.js, and modify whatever line you find it on.
I mostly like the services that the site provides, but I have some complaints about it that I won't get into right now. Easier for me to just step away from it.
Support discussions that happen in public forums are generally better, since they can be of use in the future to other people searching for answers. In any case, I'd rather people contact me one way *or* the other, but not both.
