• Add feature request when

From plt@VERT/SBBS to All on Thu Nov 19 16:09:00 2020
I have a feature request that I would like to see added to SBBS if its not already available? When using the list command to show a list of available messages, be able to use the up and down key and press enter to read the individual messages.

    Thanks

That would be a great feature

I would recommend Nightfox's stuff to most sysops. It's nice and you can also install the area chooser so your echomail and netmail have the same theme.
    Easy to change colors too.

Hey, Nightfox, I've tried using DDMsgReader, and for some reason I
get a 5-7 second delay when opening a new message area. Is this
normal? I don't recall seeing that on other boards where it's
    installed.

It might depend on how many messages are in the message area. It has to load the message headers and filter them based on which ones have been marked for deletion, etc., which accounts for the loading time. I'm not sure if there's a better way to do it..

On my system it takes less than 2 seconds to read in 7000 messages (IPV6
echo). Maybe there's some corrupt message bases. I'm on a VM that doesn't have a lot of memory and 1 CPU so I don't think it's the message reader.

For netmail, If I use the ;mail sysop command it instantly loads in 500 or so messages.

I've got my bases set for 10,000 messages. I like keeping as many messages around as possible.

Hmmm. I'm running Windows 10 32-bit, have 3 GB of RAM and a core 2 duo CPU. Maybe I'll run message maintenance and see what comes up.

I lied, I have 4 cores and 4gb but that shouldn't make a huge amount od difference. The system is pretty much idle. You might want to check the disk io while it's happening to see if there's d disk bottleneck also.

+1 on that recommendation, they're a good introduction into cusomizing Sync as well!
