netserial is 30 day free trial. it is 90usd for one license. from what i've seen, it's a good product.

Funny timing.. I just installed NetSerial's demo this morning and got my old Spitfire BBS working via Telnet. $90 is kinda steep though.

Makes me wish we had a SyncSerial ;)

    We already have this: https://www.gamesrv.ca/

Or would "SyncSerial" be something different?

It's a virtual modem giving the ability to bridge the gap for non-fossil aware software like spitfire bbs.

If I had to guess, i don't think many sysops need it now days. I just got the itch to look at my very first BBS.

Yeah, I think that's exactly what a DOS sysop can do with gamesrv. 'cept it's just emulating a serial connection and not an actual modem (the BBS needs to be able to take a "hot" com port when started up).

    Should work with gamesrv too.

it's been a while but i dont think it works with non fossil doors.
it's a telnet server; i dont think it does that type of comport emulation.

is rick still around? maybe we can ask him

now i look at runbbs.bat and i see it uses msyncfos to run dos com based programs.

i think netserial performs better, but i last tried it like 8 years ago.

It's using the Synchronet virtual UART/FOSSIL driver, it should work fine.

Yup, should work. It doesn't do *modem* emulation, but it emulates a COM port (UART) just fine.

yeah i said it was using msyncfos or whatever he calls it.

years ago when i was fighting with exitilus and running real games with doorway net2bbs was working better than synchronet's driver. i'm not sure it that's changed.
