[[BBS]] update dosemu values
Just a quick note: The link to the default sbbs.ini file, under the "Defaults" section, is still pointing to a CVS location...
I typed some shit about ftelnet.

I noticed that you use the NJ proxy server.
Have you considered self-hosting the proxy?

created first simplistic rough draft
You mentioned 2 methods and I am not sure what the other method
is but SBBS will send a file request to a node if you use the
subject with "FR: FILENAME.ZIP"
I just requested "FILES" from your node from this 1:153/757.2
point. I didn't get anything back but I wasn't really expecting
anything anyway, but SBBS/BinkIt successfully sent the request to
your node. :)
1:153/757 supports file requests. FILES doesn't return anything
but the magic names NODELIST, FIDONEWS or NASA will get you the
latest file that has arrived in those areas.
You or anyone can feel free to test against or request files from 1:153/757.
So, who do we address the netmail to? I get the part about the subject line, such as "FR: NASA", and I see your node number, but the netmail
has to be in the form of "user name@1:153/757". What "user name" should be used?

Alan Ianson@1:153/757, or freq@1:153/757. I don't think the To:
name matters.

sysop@1:153/757 should work just fine because there should be no
actual netmail message generated... .REQ files are not sent to
any specific person... they are sent to the system...
theoretically, you could send to any username at the address...
even a non-existant username...

Question: Why would one need the command line option for -force-replace when there's already that option in both the Global and Section option blocks in tickit.ini ?

I seem to recall some talk about being able to put just the modified text.dat lines into a /sbbs/mods/text.dat file and have it override the default text.dat file for those entries; is that a feature now?

Wow, that is sad news.. May he rest in peace...
I was lucky enough to register several of the doors off of his site. But, apparently all that is gone now. While I have several of the doors available for download on the BBS, there's apparently no way to register them now.

It's pretty sad, a lot of people didn't like what he was doing, saying some pretty nasty things, but I always got a long with him.. I registered a few files there. Plus grabbed all of the "free" registered ones I could.. Oh well Godspeed to him and condolences to his family..

The same was true for me. No telling how much money I saved by registering stuff with him.
Sadly, I'm sure all that data (the files, registration programs, etc.) is all gone now.

Does anyone have contact with his family? It would be nice to be able
to put his collection online for all to use for free as a legacy for his site.
