I've been having a problem, and I'm not sure what is causing it, or how to fix it -- I recently updated the software to v11b and since been seeing weird things that use to work not work. :(

and I have tried the ;exec *telgate command and get the same error --

!Failed to resolve address:
[Hit any key]

I am able to use a telnet client from that machine with out problems, also, it appears that the QWK networking is working correctly, and I am able to send out emails, so the machine must be resolving the addresses correctly, I'm thinking this might be a problem with the *telgate or how it interacts with the new update?????

I am behind a firewall -- port 79 (finger), 80 (HTML), 25 (SMTP), 23 (Telnet), 110 (POP3) are all open for this machine.

Any ideas???

YOu must specify an address to telgate *to* on the command-line (this is nothing new in v3.11b).

Just tried it, and yes, I was able to FTP to vert.synchro.net
I thought about DNS as well, and even reset everything back to "stock" setting, with the same problem. I'm baffled - IS there maybe a file or new java script that would have come out with 3.11b that maybe (just maybe) was corrupt or something when I installed???

So I think you are correct, it's not passing the command correctly, but I rechecked the telgate.src file and it looks the same as what your last messa was.

Maybe try recompiling telgate.src with Baja (type "baja telgate") in your exec directory?

1196 !SOCKET INACTIVE

I had it working at one point, and it stopped working again -- that one did have something to do with the DNS in the mail server configuration -- I'm starting to think that my ISP (Time Warner Road Runner) is blocking the SMTP port -- It's only a guess....
Does anyone know if I need to have the SMTP port open on my router -- or should I close that, and see what happends?

Absolutely. If your 3rd party pause module over-writes the "str" variable, that would break telgate and probably a lot of other modules.

Are you talking about netmail (QWK or FidoNet) or Internet e-mail? In any case, if you have a corrupted mail database (run chksmb on it to find out), you can use fixsmb to fix it.

You confusing 2 different things here. In the first part of the message, your talking about netmail, as in a message sent via a mailer, such as Irex, Argus, etc... FTN netmail. The second part your talking about your mail server for e-mail, pop3, etc..

I make a quick check for you on your port 25 and 110 SMTP/POP3... Here's the answer:

No answer.

So, there's 2 possiblities... From your statement above, you don't have either of these ports configured in your router, so, of course, this is what you would get... But if you do have these ports open, then your ISP is blocking them.

Ouch! I think you bought yourself a problem, if your custom 'pause' routine is hosed. Better try to get that sorted first or a LOT of stuff might start breaking.
