...I saw (last June) that Commodore had been resurrected by youtubers and they had a new C64. Naturally I signed up, spent about $400 and then waited. It arrived on Christmas eve no less.

So I am posting live on this thing. Very well designed, with every
modern idea..like HDMI, or the built in modem emulator. Not bad for
a machine I abandoned in the 80's for an Amiga. 8-bit and internet
enabled. NEAT.

Before plopping down your dough, you might want to start with an emulator to see if 8-bit computing is for you. Vice is the top dog. It's free and it emulates all of Commodore's 8-bit computers, including the 64, of course.

How's the "Internet enabled" bit work? What terminal program you
using?

I have a few emulators for the Tandy Color Computer, I really would'nt want to buy another CoCo, I have used the emulator to write a few CoCo basic programs, just for a little nostagia.

I run my Atari 8-bit BBS on a Windows PC using the Altirra emulator for Atari. I run my Synchronet BBS on the same PC.

Two BBSes on one computer? Any conflicts between them?

Yea I have been following Perifractics YT channel for years and was very happy to see Commodore back. Seen many videos of the new machine and am actually impressed. I just wish I had the money to get one. Sucks living on a limited budget.

I've thought about buying one, as it looks interesting. I never did use the original Commodore 64, but it may be interesting to buy one to experience sort of what it may have been like to have one back in the day.

Yes there are slots for actual SID chips. I'm no audiophile so
whatever they are doing is just fine for me. You can plug a mini-SD
on the motherboard as well for storage. It has the 9-pin plugs
for joysticks. Fortunately I have a few of those kicking around
as I've got one of those Atari2600+ boxes.
My understanding is the previous versions like TheC64 are just Rpis
running VICE, and without accredation at that. VICE has a hall of
shame for that and TheC64 is right there on the list.
