    Hello community,

I've been searching all over the net and I couldn't find the solution to my problem, so here it is, maybe some of you can help me out. I have Toshiba L750 Satellite laptop which served me fine for some time, but I have a strange problem with its speakers turning off all of a sudden. I took laptop to repair, they couldn't diagnose any kind of malfunction. I also did try reinstalling the drivers, even OS (I am currently using Windows 10 and Ubuntu, and there seemsto be a problem on both systems).

Do you know what could it be? Any suggestions, even far fetched are fine :)

Most likely a corroded or damaged speaker cable. See http://www.irisvista.com/ tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L755-L755D-L750-L750D/dismantle-laptop-1.htm for more info.

I am guessing you mean the internal speakers .. have you tried plugging in a set of external speakers?

Currently in thunderbird(nntp), saw the voting module though. Guessing
the vote/thumbs up are the empty messages I've been seeing in

You can vote from within the stock Synchronet message reader; no additional module is needed, though I did make a voting booth door for Synchronet, for poll votes. And yes, I believe the empty messages you may be seeing are vote response headers.

There are 2 types of voting in Synchronet: You can upvote & downvote normal messages, and there are also polls, which are questions with several choices of an answer.

They should not appear as messages via NNTP. If they are, that would be a bug.

I haven't really investigated, just know that occassionally I'm seeing a completely empty message body... It could be a thunderbird bug.

There were one or two messages with only a tear and origin line in the last day or so. If that's what you saw, it's not your end. But if there was absolutely nothing, then I'm not seeing those, and you may have found a bug. :)

Via NNTP? If you're getting empty messages via QWK, those probably are vote messages and that's configurable (you can turn them off) for your QWKnet account. For NTTP, there's no option to get votes or poll messages.

That wouldn't be too hard: NNTP article headers are very extensible. One would have to update both the server (nntpservice.js) and the various clients (e.g. newslink.js) to support it and then have a good opt-in/out method.

Also, not sure about the avatar, which is another thing I'd like to use.

No, votes are very different from avatars. There are 3 types of "vote" messages: ballots, polls, and poll-closures. A ballot can be a vote (e.g. an up/down-vote) in relpy to *any* message or a poll message. A poll message is a special type of message that includes meta-data specifying the visibility of the tally (e.g. not until closed, only visible by voters, etc.) and the enumerated available answers to the poll. These special messages are stored and transferred in the topical message bases (not syncdata).
