    is there something new with synchronet that is allowing these spammers to post

    I had to take away first-time posting privaleges in order to stop them
    here. There were a couple who actually acted like users and did not start posting spam until after they were given message area access.

    but these are users that were only on the web, right?
    i hope there's nothing now that can telnet in. if so that means someone designed a bot just for synchronet.

    i hope there's nothing now that can telnet in. if so that means someone design

    Yes, to my knowledge they were all using the web interface.
