• Gun show admission

From KU2S@VERT/TLCBBS to All on Mon Jan 30 06:14:00 2017
One of the groups that runs gun shows in the is changing the way they charge admission. Instead of $5.00 or $6.00 per day, they now charge $9.00 for two days. On the face of it, I'm sure this looks like a bargain, but I only go
to the show ONCE during the weekend. How many of you folks out there would
or DO go to a show twice during the weekend?

I just think it's a creative way for these show organizers to rip us off.
It's not as if they're adding vendors that you won't see the first time you
    go to the show...

Anyway, venting a bit, and wondering how many others think this is a clever rip-off scheme....

Sounds like a scam to me. I only go on Saturday, or Sunday depending who the vendors are. They don't like to re-pack, so tey drop price really well sometimes.

But yea, 1 of the days, rarely both.

Sounds like a rip to me. I have always just gone one day.

    That's what I figured. I guess if you're local going both days isn't a
hassle, and might be a bargain, but if you have to drive 40 or 50 miles
to get to the show, it's pretty much a one day event in my mind...

There are other types of shows and conventions that do that also, and have
for years. Unless there is some form of entertainment or guest speakers that will only be there on one day or the other, I would not likely go both days, either.

I miss the days of the PC Expos... Those events I'd buy a 'twicket' and go both days. But back then you could actually make a profit in building a custom PC.

Those days are long gone... :(

Peter Trapp used to run a lot of shows in New York. Used to go once a
month, gather parts even if I didn't have a build scheduled. Guess he
got into some sort of trouble, dropped off the scene with little or no
warning. Would love to go to an old school computer show again!

Yea - wasn't his last outing around October of 2005 in upstate NY? Novemner or October, I can't remember for the life of me.

Yea, there was another promoter/company that did PA and OH too...

Miss going there - it was like a geek "coming out" party. You knew a friend was a closet geek, then you saw them at the show... LOL

    Good times!

Yeah, I think the last time I saw one of his shows advertised was around
that time. We used to go up in an old Chevy Suburban and fill the damned
thing up. Those were the days alright. Nothing like that to be seen
    around these days....
